Inaugural Purple Parade 2013

Venue: Hong Lim Park

Objective: To support inclusion and celebrate abilities of people with Special Needs.

Highlights of Purple Parade 2013:

  • More than 4000 people, with and without special needs, turned up to support Purple Parade despite the torrential downpour
  • Supporters spontaneously formed a purple umbrella chain to facilitate the contingents to proceed to the stage for their parade. What a fantastic spirit of unity!!
  • We broke Singapore Book of Records!! More than 5,000 supporters signed pledges in support of Singapore’s signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2012.
  • ARC(S) and Pathlight School participated in Contingents and added to the festivities with their costumes purposely designed for Purple Parade to much applause.
