| Course Descriptions | : | Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or autism, as it is commonly known, is a developmental disorder that affects many children; typically in the way they communicate, form relationships and interact with other children. Autism may also affect the child's learning and information processing styles. Having a good understanding of the disorder is the first step and the key to developing effective, individualised intervention strategies for a child with autism.
The Fundamentals of Autism workshop aims to increase participant awareness through an introduction to Autism and the Culture of Autism. It is particularly relevant to parents/caregivers and teachers who would like to have an overview on the topic of Autism.
Participants will acquire a fundamental understanding of:- Learning styles and preferences of children with autism
- Learning profiles of children with autism
- Learning difficulties faced by children with autism
- Practical intervention strategies that work
