IT Holiday Programmes

The IT Holiday Programmes are conducted during the school holidays for Primary 4 to 6, Secondary 1-5 and Vocational students of Pathlight School to bridge the digital gap between special needs and mainstream students.

These programmes are fun, interactive and aimed at equipping Pathlight students with useful skills and knowledge of IT and Design concepts to enable them to create, innovate and communicate.

Registration will start on 9 May 2022, 8.00 pm (Monday)

Learn how to create your unique versions of 3D characters from your favourite games using TinkerCad, a 3D modelling tool. Learners will be introduced to the features of Tinkercad and explore the design thinking process in this hands-on approach to learning 3D modelling.

Action Photography with Minecraft for Education (ME:E)

Learn how to capture your gaming adventures through creative photography & storytelling in the ‘Action Photography with Minecraft for Education (ME:E)’ workshop! In addition to picking up essential photography theory and PowerPoint skills, participant can also expect to develop and hone essential 2D/3D perspective-taking, critical-thinking and creative skills that can be applied to various fields beyond digital photography and storytelling.

Digital Game Development with Makecode Arcade

With MakeCode Arcade, creating an old school Space Shooter game is made possible for learners to develop on their own and have fun playing it! Learners will learn how to create the base of the space shooter game, adding health, power-ups and many more!

Digital Game Development with Scratch

Love a good old 2D game? Here’s your chance in creating one in Scratch! As the level goes higher, the game gets harder! Are you up for it? Learners will create a 2D game on Scratch to shoot enemies as the wave gets more complicated.

Pixel Art Character Animation with PiskelApp

Pixel Art Character Animation will provide learners with the knowledge and skillset to design pixel art characters and produce animated GIFs on a digital platform, PiskelApp. Learners will learn the process of creating their pixel art characters, and they will then animate their character designs on PiskelApp.

Learn through Play: Computational Thinking with Potato Pirates

Filming First Person Sequences with Green Screen

In this workshop, learners will learn about the basics of video production, such as camera operation and green screen. They will create a fun video of themselves in the first-person view and edit themselves into a video game. Video games are prevalent among youngsters and children, and now learners will get a chance to create fictional gameplay and become the main character. They will add graphical effects and creatures such as dinosaurs within the game video and engage in an imaginary battle with them. They will be encouraged to use their creativity to create their mock gameplay.

Upcycled Cosplay

This workshop educates learners on upcycling and encourages young minds to think creatively using common objects to design extraordinary products in cosplay design. Upcycling surrounds the importance of sustainability and repurposing unwanted materials. This will equip learners with creative design thinking skills and be exposed to innovative ideas when planning and sharing their creations. Learners get to remake old materials into new and valuable cosplay props or costumes and explore possibilities that upcycling offers.

Card Game Design & Development with Figma

This workshop teaches learners the basics of the card game design process. Learners will explore card game examples to understand how to structure their game components and rules. They will then engage in brainstorming their game theme to design interesting card game prototypes on Figma, an online graphics designing application.

<[>Through the game design thinking process, learners will learn the importance of structuring game flow, writing effective rulebooks, and the influence of attractive game aesthetics when designing card games. They will also get to playtest their card game prototypes with their peers to improve their designs.

Digital Game Development in JavaScript with p5.js

This workshop will facilitate learners to create games using p5j.s software. This software will enable learners to be able to understand coding in JavaScript. Coding involves math skills, making learning a lot more fun and interesting. Learners will be able to develop logic and creativity to think differently. As JavaScript is one of the simplest programming languages to learn, it is an excellent introduction to coding for a beginner.

In this workshop, learners will be utilizing Pokemon Unite to emphasize certain aspects of Cyber Wellness such as online toxicity. In addition to this, Pokemon Unite is a game for all ages due to its non-violent nature. All in all, Pokemon Unite provides all of us with a unique delve into gaming by giving us the opportunity to teach about soft skills through playing together with friends.

A good live-streamer need not necessarily be a good gamer, but he or she will definitely need to be a good entertainer. Learners will learn how to run a one-person show with a basic rig set-up, and engage with their audiences to build a wholesome community.
