IT Holiday Workshops

The IT Holiday Workshops are conducted during the year-end school holidays for Primary 4 to 6 and Secondary 1-5 students to bridge the digital gap between special needs and mainstream students.

These workshops are fun, interactive and aimed at equipping your child with useful skills and knowledge of IT and design concepts to enable him/her to create, innovate and communicate.

Registration of courses will commence on 03 Nov 2020 (Tuesday), 08.00pm and will close on 09 Nov 2020 (Tuesday), 11.59pm. Confirmation of registration will be sent via email by 13 Nov 2020 (Friday).
Technical Requirements:
  1. A working desktop or laptop computer with mouse, webcam and speakers.
  2. A stable broadband internet connection.
  3. The latest version of Microsoft Teams is installed.
  4. The latest version of Chrome Web Browser.

ARC(S) will be absorbing the cost of the running of the IT Holiday Workshops as part of its contribution to the community during this COVID-19 period. However, the course fee may still be chargeable if your child is successfully registered and enrolled for the workshop but fails to turn up on that day. Generative Arts with Processing

This online course allows learners to design, code and share simple generative art by using a free browser-based development tool - OpenProcessing.

Learners will familiarise themselves with basic computer graphics, programming concepts, JavaScript programming, as well as explore the computational thinking processes.

In addition, learners will be taken through simple projects to provide a hands-on approach to learning how to create generative art.

MakeCode Arcade Coding

This online workshop introduces students to simple game creation using Makecode Arcade.

Learners will be introduced to the basics of game design using block coding and pixel art when designing sprites. By the end of this workshop, they will produce 1 retro arcade game (whack-a-mole concept) with their own sprite character designs in the game.

Web Creation with Wix

This online course introduces learners to the basic elements required for building a website.

They will learn to utilise Wix, a free online drag-and-drop website builder, to design their personal websites. They will also acquire skills and strategies to create an effective website design that is user-friendly and well organised.

Basic Video Editing with ClipChamp

In this online course, learner will learn the basic editing skills on a video-editing web app called Clipchamp. They will apply basic functions such as titles and transition to create a video motif and advertisement. In addition, they will also understand the basic storytelling and shot continuity concept to edit two short films.

Data Visualisation with Excel

In this online course, learner will learn about data and visualisations (graphs). They will also practice sourcing data online and inputting data into Excel to generate graphs that is easy to understand and analyse.

TinkerCad with Movie Props

This online course will take learners through 6 design projects to learn how to design and create simple to advanced movie props using Tinkercad program. Learners will be introduced to the features of Tinkercad and explore the design thinking process in this hands-on approach to learning 3D modelling.

Frame by Frame using Wick Editor

In this online course, learner will gain some basic animation knowledge about frame-by-frame animation. They will be introduced to Wick Editor which they will be using to create simple frame-by-frame animations and interactive games.
